While Bret was an internet friend, I got to know him pretty well. I regret being in to much of a hurry while passing through New York to meet up for coffee.
He was always very helpful to others, both online and in the real world. His fixing the fence for an absent neighbor spoke volumes about his character.
We are greatly diminished by his passing. Rest in peace, sir!
