I had the divine luck to be a student of Mr. French's tenth-grade regents' geometry class during the summer of 1979 at the Gouverneur High School. I commuted from the Harrisville school district. I nor my parents realized at the time I suffered from a mild learning disability. As I reflect now years later, I know that his unique gift as a math educator coupled with his engaging personality allowed me to not only be successful with the summer 1979 Geometry Regents exam. But to go on and earn two undergraduate degrees, the second of which is a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Clarkson University. Educators, medical professionals, and law enforcement are three of the most important vocations in our society. I'll not forget him nor his effect on my life. Thank you, Mr. French. Godspeed to you!
