Obituary of Rachel M. Miner

HERMON – Rachel M. Miner, age 86, of Hermon, passed away on August 15, 2018 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital. Calling hours will be held at French Funeral Home in Edwards on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Her funeral will be held at the Pilgrim Holiness Church in Russell on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the Hermon Cemetery. Rachel was born on May 14, 1932 in Pierrepont, NY to the late Edward and Mayfred (Stone) Fifield. She graduated from the Knox Memorial High School and worked for many years as a caregiver in the Canton and DeKalb areas, and was a blessing and help to many. Rachel loved animals, especially her cats. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, tending her flower garden and mowing her own lawn which she did up until the week before she took ill. Rachel has been a member of the Pilgrim Holiness Church in Russell for many years. Her survivors include her sister, Esther Cleveland of Hermon; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, and her 3 cats, Elli-Mae, Jerry and Bubba. She is predeceased by her parents and a sister, Lila Slayko. Donations in memory of Rachel may be made to the Potsdam Humane Society, 17 Madrid Ave., Potsdam, NY 13676.
