GOUVERNEUR- William G. Martin, age 75, of Gouverneur, NY passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2025 at Samaritan Keep Home in Watertown.

There will be a graveside service for William on Friday, January 10, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Edwards. Arrangements are with French Funeral Home. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com.

William was born on February 10, 1949 in Dekalb, NY to the late George and Dorothy (Goings) Martin. He attended Knox Memorial School in Russell. On July 3, 1969 he married Rita P. Barker in Edwards. Rita passed away on December 21, 2017.

Bill worked as a Grounds keeper for the Gouverneur School for 19 years and then drove dump truck and concrete truck for various companies until his retirement in 1999. Bill was an avid New York Giants and New York Mets fan. He loved the outdoors, especially bass fishing.

Surviving is a son, Michael Martin of Gouverneur; a daughter and her husband, Jayne and Jason Pratt of Rochester; five grandchildren, Marcus Hart, Ryan Martin, Rylynn Martin, Raina Pratt and Tyler Pratt and several nieces and nephews.

William is predeceased by his wife; his parents; two sons, Matthew and Daniel Martin and a daughter, Amy Martin.
