I often wondered through the years what became of "Billy", as we called him. We lived together as foster brother and sister in the home of Helen and Gerald Smith, our foster parents, on the Hill Road in the town of Russell, with a Hermon address. We were only two of at least 10-12 foster children. All the girls worked in the house, and all the boys worked in the barn doing the chores and the milkings. It was a great time. We had a lot of fun that left us with fond memories of those days.
One thing I can remember about Billy was, every morning Gerald Smith would wake the boys to get up and go out to the barn and do their morning chores, but Billy usually needed to be hollered to, not just once, but at least three times before he would get up. He hated doing his morning and evening chores in the barn. (LOL)
After I left the household, Billy married Rita. Once in awhile I would see them when they came to visit the Smiths. I believe they lived in Edwards at that time, (not sure). I still lived in the Russell/Pyrites area, but never saw them after the 70's, and as I said, I wondered many times what became of him and Rita. I hope to see Billy in Heaven some day!
Remembering him in God's love,
9
