RUSSELL- Carl Emerson Hull, age 89 of Russell, NY passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Gouverneur Hospital. There will be calling hours for Carl on Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at French Funeral Home, Edwards. His funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Clare. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com. Carl was born on February 1, 1935 in Russell, NY to the late Kenneth and Jenny (Backus) Hull. He attended Knox Memorial School in Russell. On June 28, 1959, he married Margaret Kirky in Russell. Carl worked as a custodian for 53 years at St. Lawrence University. When he retired, Carl held the record for being the longest employee there. Carl was a member and part of the original founding crew of the Russell Volunteer Fire Department, where he had served as past Chief. He loved being outdoors, whether it be fishing, gardening or doing yard work. Surviving is his wife, Margaret; two sons, Paul and Neil Hull; two daughters, Sally and Mark Rice and Sherry and Christopher Moore; a sister, Gloria and Byron Colton; two grandsons, Douglas Rice and his wife Jessica and Danial Rice and his wife Megan and two great grandsons, Dexter and Dawson Rice. Carl is predeceased by his parents and a brother, Dennis Hull. Donations may be made in Carl's memory to the Russell Volunteer Fire Department.
