I ,as well as many others could tell Charlie stories for hours. But the thing I remember most about him was his fondness of and devotion to kids. He was a lifetime volunteer coach and supporter for many of us.
When I was about 12 years old my family moved from the Edwards area to a home at the end of the Silver Hill road in rural Russell, ( in the boonies) just as Pee Wee baseball was to begin in Edwards. Therefore I was unable to get to the games. One Tuesday afternoon a big ford pulled into our driveway. It was Charlie and his sidekick Fred. Charlie rolled down his window , and said get your glove and come on. He made this trip every Tuesday and Thursday for the entire Summer. My brother Walt and I never missed a game.
R.I.P. Charlie, and keep smiling.

I sure will miss Charlie as he was always stopping over to the house wanting me to work on his Honda Goldwing. While here, we always ended up comparing notes on our Goldwings. He often would swing around the Island to check on me and my. wood cutting progress. Most of the time it was just to pass time I believe. I truly miss seeing him parked in front of my house hoping I'd come out to chat. Donna and I send our deepest condolences to the family.
