GOUVERNEUR - Velma S. Kellogg, age 88, of Gouverneur, passed away on September 18, 2012 at the E.J. Noble Hospital.

Calling hours will be at French Funeral Home, Gouverneur on Thursday, September 20, 2012 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Her funeral service will be on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with lay pastor, Judy Sibley, officiating. Burial will be in the East Riverside Cemetery.

Velma was born on November 14, 1923 in Gouverneur to the late Laurel J. and Inez L. (Lashure) Stammer. She graduated from Gouverneur Central School in 1941.

Velma married Raymond O. Kellogg on February 27, 1943 at the Gouverneur Methodist Parsonage, officiated by Rev. Harold Thomas. The couple lived on the Little Bow Road before moving to the Village of Gouverneur in 1975. Mr. Kellogg passed away on April 2, 2002.

Mrs. Kellogg was a member of the Gouverneur United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women Unit 4. She enjoyed spending time with her family.

Her survivors include her daughters, Mrs. Michael (Jeanne) Blanchfield of Washingtonville, NY; Mrs. Harry (Nancy) Turnbull of Oxbow; five grandchildren, Shane and Jason Blanchfield, Lindsay, Heather, and Ashley Turnbull; and five great grandchildren, Craig, Sierra, Austin, Rayden and Nathan.

She is predeceased by her parents, her husband, and her brother, Donald Stammer.
