My deepest condolences to Alex's family and friends. Where can I start? Alex was such a thoughtful person. Years ago, when we came back from serving for years in ministry in Turkey, we had so many experiences to talk about, but many people have limited interest... but NOT Alex. He let us talk for hours about our experiences and he asked such thoughtful questions and gave encouraging comments. He cared and showed real interest. He really helped us emotionally transition back to America. He also served tirelessly, even in his older years, working to paint much of the inside of the church at our old location on Smith St. He was always quick to have an encouraging word with so many, including me, but not in a showy way. For Alex it was all about loving Jesus and people first. He was always ready to strike up a deep intelligent conversation at the drop of a hat. I so loved that about him. And he absolutely loved his children and grandchildren, talking about them all the time! Losing a friend like him, I am comforted by the fact Alex knew this brief life is not all there is. Alex trusted in the fact God loved him and sent Jesus to pay for all his sins (of which we all have many) by his death on the cross. The reality God raised Jesus from the dead and promised to do that for all his followers as well, was the bedrock of his faith. And in the meantime, "...to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord..." scripture says and so I'm comforted knowing he's in a very good place. May that comfort you all as well! With deepest sympathies, Bob Dale

Unfortunately I was unable to attend services for Alex yesterday. Truly a man who walked in the light of his lord and savior I recall a few lighthearted conversations I had with him back in late 80s or early 90s comparing experiences as both of us had been graduates of San Francisco State University even though years apart. Alex has completed his tasks and journey on earth and been granted his heavenly resting place.

Sending our deepest sympathies to Alex’s family. We worked with Alex at the BOCES Summer School program in Ogdensburg in summers past. We had a wonderful time as a team with the children sharing lots of fun and many laughs. Please know we are thinking of you all and saying a prayer of thanks for sharing Alex with us.
With deepest sympathy, Sara and Doug Farley
