Dear Linda and Family of Clay
I apologize, It's taken some time for me to bring myself to write this. You see I met Linda at our morning workout class and we hit it off, I invited her and Clay to dinner and the rest was history. From the moment we met Clay, well don't have to tell you, it was love at first sight. He had the best light up the room smile! He was a real gentleman, kind, caring, genuine with the best laid back personality. Did I mention his smile! My husband and Clay hit it right off and we considered them close friends. I honestly can say the man never spoke ill of anyone and was just the kindest. I guess this is why this has been so difficult, to say goodbye to such a dear man, so unexpectantly, my heart was crushed for Linda, his family and all his friends and myself. I consider myself incredibly blessed to have been able to know and call Clay our friend and am grateful for all our happy memories. I pray for you, Linda, daily as well as his family that the Lord give you the strength you need during such a dark time and may all your beautiful memories of such an amazing man comfort you.
With Love and Sympathy,
Megan, John and Julianna Ianieri

I met Clay in 1979 while playing tennis. We became tennis buddies and then quickly became best friends. Through the past 40 years Clay and I shared many of life's highs as well as a few of life's lows. We would see each other as often as possible and talk to each other on the phone at least twice a week. We counseled each other on many projects - lawn care, landscaping, household repairs, and painting just to name a few. I often sought and very much valued Clay's advice on stock market investing. After all, this was Clay's passion and his second love. Of course Linda was his first love. Clay was the only person whose favorite television channel was CNBC. He could watch the stock market report all day long. Those of us that knew Clay knew that he was a kind gentle, funny, generous, and loving person. My friend I will miss you so very much.
My Brother I will love you forever.

What a gift that I was aloud to be Clay and Linda’s friend. Watching him work tirelessly outside and enjoying every
moment was so inspiring. His calm and gentle nature, his smile and very special love for Linda will always be with me.
My sincere Condolences to Clays Family and for you Linda. Clay will always walk at your side and carry you when life gets heavy.
Sending you love and strength,

We have been honored to be Clay and Linda's neighbors for almost ten years. We still remember the first time we met both of them, vibrant, cheerful, loving and full of life . . . and that is the way we will always remember Clay. Clay's wonderful claim to fame in our neighborhood is he had the best yard anyone has ever seen. He cultivated it from bare soil and nourished it till it became fruitful and a true labor of his love. That is the way he lived his life, to the fullest. I am glad he was able to experience this with the other main love of his life, aside from his lawn, Linda. We were crushed to hear about his transition to God but know you will find peace in that he will continue to be taking care of you, smiling from above. Till we all meet again and talk bout how lush the lawns are up in heaven, please find some comfort during these difficult times. Clay will always be remembered as a gentle soul with a huge heart that loved all things great and small. Rest in peace friend. Love, Mike, Linh, Emma and Grant

To recall 50 years of friendship is not an easy task. However to do so brings back many pleasant memories. To say Clay was kind, witty and fun to be with only scratches the surface of his personalty. Included in those 50 years with Clay was as a coworker at J.J. Newberry, my best man at my marriage to Kathie and much more. Clay was always a sincere, thoughtful person who never had a coarse word toward anyone. We can never fully appreciate such relationships of loyalty and friendship until they are taken from us. Both Kathie and I send our sincere condolences to Linda and to all of Clayton's family. R.I.P. Clay.
