Obituary of Raymond V. Card

HERMON - Raymond V. Card, also known as "Rainbow", age 82, passed away at home on April 10, 2013 under the loving care of his family. Calling hours will be at French Funeral Home, Edwards on Saturday, April 13, 2013 from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. immediately followed by his graveside service in the Fairview Cemetery, Edwards at 2:15 p.m. officiated by Rev. Beth Benham. Raymond was born on April 24, 1930 in Denmark, NY to the late Vernard and Grace (Webb) Card. He married Catherine M. Weiler on October 8, 1950 at the Lowville Methodist parsonage. The couple has lived in Hermon since 1965. Raymond worked for St. Joseph Mineral Corporation in Edwards and later in Balmat from 1951 until his retirement as hoist operator in 1985. Rainbow loved time spent with his grandchildren and enjoyed his dogs. He was an expert at taking cars apart and sold parts for years. Rainbow will always be remembered as a very loving father and a best friend to everybody. He was a social person who enjoyed playing shuffleboard, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and boating on Trout Lake. His survivors include his wife, Catherine; son, Robert Card of Hermon, son, Richard and Debi Card of Gouverneur and their children, David, Jimmy and Julie; daughter, Kathy and Terry Tynon of Jacksonville, NC and their children, Shantell and Shane; daughter, Melanie and Doug Mattice of Rensselaer Falls and their children, D.J., Jason and Mystori; daughter, Diana and Mark Richardson of Canton and their child, Juliana; and daughter, Darlene and Jeffrey Thornton of Wasilla, Alaska and their children, Travis and Brittany.
