Obituary of William E. McIntosh

EDWARDS – William E. McIntosh, age 73 of Edwards, passed away on January 3, 2020 at home under the care of his daughter and hospice. Calling hours will be held at French Funeral Home, 16 Barnes Street, Gouverneur on Friday, January 10th from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. His memorial service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Burial will military honors will be in the Fullerville Cemetery. William was born on April 23, 1946 in Gouverneur to the late Clifford and Dorothy (Howard) McIntosh. He graduated from Edwards Central School and served in the United States Marine Corps from April 30, 1964 until his honorable discharge on July 26, 1967. He received the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Rifle Marksman Qualification Badge. William worked as a Back Tender for S.C.A. Paper Mill in Glens Falls, NY for 31 years. He enjoyed riding snowmobiles and 4-wheelers, liked to go fishing, hunting and camping, and loved to joke and have a beer. He was also a lifetime member of VFW Post #6338 in Gouverneur. He is survived by his daughter, Billie Jo McIntosh and her son, Michael and Kaylin Stanczyk, brother-in-law, Carl Oatman and his children, Paul and Sandy Oatman, Sherry and Steve LaPlante, Carl and Sherry Oatman, and Allen Oatman and his son, AJ. William is also survived by his good friends, Kevin and Lila Smith. He is predeceased by his parents and his sister, Patsy Oatman. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com.
