DEGRASSE- Dorothy Ann Powers, age 62, of Degrasse, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2013 at her home under the loving care of her family and St. Lawrence Valley Hospice. Dorothy's calling hours will be on Monday, March 4, 2013 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at French Funeral Home in Edwards. Her funeral service will be on Tuesday, March 5th at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Lay Pastor Judy Sibley officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Clare. Online condolences may be sent to www.frenchfuneralhomes.com. Dorothy was born on February 20, 1951 in Russell, NY to Elmer R. and Harriett L. (Donnelly) O'Shea Sr. She attended Knox Memorial Central School. Dorothy married Robert A. Powers on July 3, 1969 in Charleston Heights, SC. She was a homemaker. Previously Dorothy did in home child day care for many years and had also worked as a waitress. Dorothy loved watching baseball, and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. She loved watching television, especially HDGTV, listening to Flashback (a country band) and country music with Elvis Presley and Conway Twitty being some of her favorites. Dorothy enjoyed her dogs, Precious, Iggy, Butch and Otis; spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends; staying warm and spending time with her "Bob". She is survived by her husband, Robert "Bob" of Degrasse; two sons and their wives, Duane and Abigail Powers of Ogdensburg and Michael and Colleen Powers of Buffalo; a daughter and her fianc, Barbara Powers and Michael Slota of Buffalo; six grandchildren, Amanda, Joseph, Adam, Melissa, Matt and Tyler; a sister and her husband, Linda and Gene Clyde; six brothers, Robert and Sue O'Shea, Gerald O'Shea and Kelly Truesedder, Clarence and Adair O'Shea, Marvin O'Shea and Janet House, Brian O'Shea and Maria O'Hannolin and Robin and Shelly O'Shea; three sister-in-laws, Claudia O'Shea, Betty O'Shea and Paula O'Shea; and several nieces and nephews. Dorothy is predeceased by her mother, Harriett O'Shea and three brothers, Charles "Chuck", Bruce and Steven O'Shea. Donations may be made in Dorothy's memory to the Ogdensburg Salvation Army, 727 State St., Ogdensburg, NY 13669.
