Obituary of Steven F. Spano

GOUVERNEUR –It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Steven Franklin Spano, 37, on October 4, 2019 in Syracuse NY. Services will be held at French Funeral Home in Gouverneur on Thursday, October 10, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. There will be an hour of visitation on Thursday from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. Steven was born in Hinsdale, IL to Jeanne & Anthony Spano on May 16, 1982 and grew up and lived in Gouverneur, NY before moving to Syracuse, NY a couple of years ago where he worked in the restaurant industry. Steven went to Gouverneur Central Schools and earned his GED and certificate in Welding from BOCES. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed cooking and inventing recipes, fishing, playing the drums and spending time with his daughter. He is survived by his daughter, Madelynne A. Hay-Spano and her mother, Jennifer Hay of Gouverneur; his sisters, Michele & Mike O'Donnell (Faulk) of Gouverneur; Renee & Steve Cole (Faulk) of Lombard, IL; Jennifer & Chad Newton (Faulk) of Mesa, AZ; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father in 1996, and mother in 2018. Burial will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Richville, NY, next to his parents, at the family's discretion.
