Obituary of Betty J. Tuttle

MACOMB – Betty J. Tuttle, age 79, of Macomb, passed away at home on Sunday, March 10, 2019.

Calling hours will be held at French Funeral Home in Gouverneur on Friday, March 15, 2019 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Lake Cemetery.

Betty was born on January 3, 1940 in Morristown to the late Wesley J. and Doris M. (Kittle) Manning. She attended Gouverneur Central School. A marriage to Benjamin D. Tuttle ended in separation.

Betty had worked for the Gouverneur Tribune Press, for Mercer's Dairy until they closed, and was a cleaning lady for the Clearview Restaurant for over 25 years before she retired.

She was an active member of the Gouverneur VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries, bowled for many years, played on the Women's Black Lake Pool League and enjoyed fishing and going on outings with the Macomb Wesleyan Church and the Senior Citizens groups. Most of all, Betty prized her animals, loving all sorts of critters.

Her survivors include her children, Michael Tuttle and his wife, Christina, Carol Tuttle and her significant other, Lou Fiacco, and Joanne Hays; her daughter-in-law, Tami Tuttle; her husband's daughter, Michele Brown; 7 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her parents; her son, David Tuttle; companions, Harry Shampine and Paul Matice; a son-in-law, Joseph Hays; a sister, Shirley Manning who died in infancy; and two brothers who died at birth.

Donations in memory of Betty may be made to the Macomb Wesleyan Church. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com.
