Obituary of Lawrence E. Butler

PARISHVILLE- Lawrence "Larry" E. Butler, age 63, of Parishville, but formerly of Richville, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 25, 2019 at Canton-Potsdam Hospital. Larry was born on May 30, 1955 to Robert and Garnet (Bishop) Butler. He graduated from Gouverneur High School in 1974. In 1979, Larry entered into the United States Navy and there he served until his honorable discharge in 1983. A marriage to Sue Mott ended in divorce. Larry worked as a boiler technician at the E.J. Noble Hospital in Gouverneur and at Samaritan Hospital in Watertown for several years, before working in Maintenance at SUNY Potsdam, until his retirement in 2015. He was a member of the Richville Fire Department and Am vets in Parishville. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, woodworking and carpentry. Surviving is his mother, Garnet Butler and his sister Robin Boyer, both of Ocklawaha, FL and several nieces and nephews. Larry is predeceased by his father, Robert Sr.; a brother, Robert "Bobby" Butler Jr.; and three sisters, Patricia Butler, Barbara Moore and Nancy Jenkins. As per his wishes, there will be a celebration of his life on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at 1:00 at the Richville Fire Department. Arrangements are with French Funeral Home, Gouverneur.
