ANTWERP - Carl Paul Brayton, age 86, of Antwerp, passed away on February 3, 2013 in the emergency room of E.J. Noble Hospital, Gouverneur. Carl was born on July 29, 1926 in Gouverneur to the late Ceba and Sadie (Remore) Brayton. He married Arlene P. Cook, who passed away on October 1, 1993. Mr. Brayton retired from J&L Steel where he worked for years. Carl enjoyed volunteering for the Senior Citizens' Center in Antwerp where he had received an appreciation award. He also enjoyed collecting and riding bicycles, driving in the snow, going out to dinner, and spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by a son, Douglas Brayton of Ogdensburg; three daughters, Phyllis Wagner of Newark, Linda and Ammon Aikey of Canandaigua, and Karen and Jim Wavering of Hermon. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and their families. He is predeceased by his parents; a son, Howard Brayton; and seven sisters, Alice Holiday, Leona Brayton, Lena Denton, Ruth Brayton, Edith Bevins, and Agnes Crump. Honoring his wishes, there will be no funeral service. Arrangements have been made with French Funeral Home, Gouverneur. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com.
