Obituary of Arthur J. Farnsworth

NEWTON FALLS- Arthur James Farnsworth Jr. "Big Sonny", age 70, of Newton Falls, NY, passed away on Friday, May 18, 2018 at his home due to complications from Alzheimer's surrounded by his family, friends and Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley. Arthur was born on October 22, 1947 in Tupper Lake, NY to the late Arthur Sr. and Esther (Pickering) Farnsworth. He attended Tupper Lake High School and then entered into the United States Army where he served during the Vietnam War and was awarded four medals of honor and was a hero to many. Art was always a hard worker and strived to do his best. He worked at Elliot Hardwood Veneer and was a roll wrapper at the Newton Falls Paper Mill until he retired. He loved working on and fixing everything and anything with a motor. He was always helping his neighbors or sitting on the porch with family and friends sharing coffee and the latest hunting or fishing stories. His beloved wife and soul mate, Catherine will be awaiting his arrival as she passed away on August 22, 2005. Surviving is a brother, James Farnsworth; three children and their spouses, Malissa Farnsworth, Sonny and Lindsay Farnsworth and Sara and Elyse Farnsworth; eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Theresa LeBlanc; Brothers-in-law, Randy and David LeBlanc; sister-in-law, Diane LeBlanc; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. As per Arthurs' request, there will be no funeral. Cremation services will be provided by French Family Funeral Home, Star Lake. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com.
