Obituary of Rosalind "Lois" Davis

EDWARDS – Rosalind "Lois" M. Davis, age 90, passed away on May 16, 2018 at home under the care of her family and Hospice. Calling hours will be held at French Funeral Home, Edwards, on Saturday, May19, 2018 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. Her funeral service will be at the Edwards Methodist Church on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Edwards at a later date. Lois was born on April 13, 1928 in Edwards to the late Abner Henry Rice and Florence Marion (Wood) Rice. She attended the Edwards Central School and married Robert "Bob" Noble Davis on May 30, 1945 at her Uncle Ed's home. Bob passed away on March 10, 2008. Mrs. Davis worked as a bus monitor for a few years before getting into In Home Care, caring for those who needed it. She was also a foster parent, giving a warm home with rules to be followed. Lois enjoyed snowmobiling and held every office of the Edwards Snowmobiling club. She was a member of the Canton VFW Auxiliary, the Star Lake American Legion Auxiliary, and helped put on the church bazaars and dinners. She loved square dancing, swimming, gardening, and camping at Clear Lake. Her survivors include 9 children, Janet Carol Jones, Joan and David Dox, Jacklyn and Charles Kibbe, Patricia Jean Davis and companion, Jan Lennox, Robin Davis and wife, Emily Harkins, Agnes and Danny White, Bert and Sally DeLavergne, Loretta and Marty Lynch, and Regina Bressette and lifetime partner, Michelle Coté; and 5 sisters, Margaret McIntosh, Frances Damon, Donna Soper, Elizabeth Rose, and Sharon Horne. Lois is also survived by 27 grandchildren, too many great grandchildren to count, and several great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, Bob; a daughter, Judy Kay Davis; 2 brothers, Silas and Edwin Rice; and a sister, Barbara McIntosh.
