CRANBERRY LAKE – Robert B. Raymo, age 79, of Cranberry Lake passed away on May 14, 2018 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake. His memorial service will be held at French Family Funeral Home, 4159 State Highway 3, Star Lake NY on his Birthday, May 22, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. After the service there will be a Celebration of Life held at the Cranberry Lake Fire Hall. Robert was born on May 22, 1938 in Massena to the late Bernard and Theresa (Henderson) Raymo. He graduated from the Massena High School, earned his Associate's degree from SUNY Canton and his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from SUNY Potsdam. Bob married Kathryn Barr on November 28, 1981 at the Grace Episcopal Church in Canton. He worked as a History Teacher for the Ogdensburg Free Academy from 1963 until 1967; and worked for SUNY Canton from 1967 until his retirement in 1999. At SUNY Canton he served as the Director of Admissions, Director of Development and Executive Director of the Canton College Foundation; and retired as the Assistant to the President. Bob's passion was community service. Regardless of where he lived, he was actively involved in his community. While living in Ogdensburg he was and continued to be a member of the Elks, was Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus and was actively involved with the Ogdensburg Teacher's Association. Upon moving to Canton, he became involved with the Lion's Club, was a founding member and a Board Director for the Grasse River Heritage Group; a two term President of the Canton Chamber of Commerce where he and fellow members initiated Winterfest. He was a Board member of the Canton Community Fund and President of the Canton Club. His love was Cranberry Lake where he and his wife moved to upon their retirement, spending the warmer months at the lake and the "cooler" months in Cocoa Beach, Florida. At the time of his death he was a member of the Board of Directors of the Canton College Foundation, a Director of the Wilderness Health Care Foundation for the Clifton-Fine Hospital and served on the Community Improvement Program of the Cranberry Lake Boat Club. He was instrumental in numerous community improvement and fundraising programs which greatly benefited both the Cranberry Lake and Star Lake communities. Mr. Raymo is survived by his wife, Kathryn Raymo of Cranberry Lake, his sister and brother-in-law, Sue Raymo Hamilton (Tom) and their children, Tom, Tracy and Tammy, his children, Craig Raymo of Kissimmee, FL, David Raymo (Marianne) and their son, Joshua of Portsmouth, RI, Michael Raymo (Debora) and their son, Nicholas of St. Petersburg, FL, Aaron and his children, Eli and Hannah of Winter Garden, FL, and Stephanie of Cape Canaveral, FL.
