Obituary of Edward A. Duchano

STAR LAKE – Edward A. Duchano, age 66, of Star Lake passed away on May 7, 2018 at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg. Ed was born on June 7, 1951 in Gouverneur to Margaret and the late Frederick Duchano. He graduated from the Clifton-Fine Central School. He served in the United States Marine Corps until his Honorable discharge. During his military service Ed was stationed in Okinawa, Japan for 1 year, felt the rumblings at the base of Mount Fuji, and made beach landings in South Korea. Ed married Michele M. Gardner on March 30, 1985 in Star Lake. Mr. Duchano worked for J&L Steel until its closure, then worked for the Newton Falls Paper Mill as a paper maker for 24 years. After the paper mill shut down Ed worked for St. Lawrence Zinc, until it's closing and was a seasonal plow driver on Fort Drum until retiring due to his health. In his free time Ed loved sugaring in the spring, kayaking and biking with his wife and hunting. He was a member of the Newton Falls Rod and Gun Club and a member of the American Legion Post 1539 in Star Lake. Ed is survived by his wife, Michele M. Duchano of Star Lake, two sons, Joshua C. Duchano and Justin A. Duchano, his mother and two brothers. Following his wishes, there will be no funeral services. Arrangements are with French Family Funeral Home in Star Lake.
