HARRISVILLE – Marla Rae Martin, age 51, formerly of Harrisville and Star Lake, passed away on April 18, 2018 at Crouse-Irving Hospital in Syracuse. Calling hours will be held at French Family Funeral Home, 4159 State Hwy 3, Star Lake NY 13690, on Monday, April 23, 2018 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. A burial service will take place in the Harrisville Cemetery at a later date. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com. Marla was born on November 1, 1966 in Carthage to the late Ralph and Elaine (Farrell) Mantle. She graduated from the Clifton-Fine Central School. A marriage to Nelson Martin, Jr., ended in divorce. Marla had worked as a chemical dependency C.N.A. for Canton-Potsdam Hospital detox unit and loved her job caring for people. She loved spending time with her kids and grandkids, was always talking on the phone, and loved to "shoot the shit". Her favorite things were to go to the American Legion with friends and her son; and boating with friends. Her survivors include her son, Nelson Martin, III; her daughter and son-in-law, Brooks and Tyler Farmer; granddaughters, Ariah Provost and Remi Farmer; brother and sister-in-law, James and Priscilla Jenne; sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Dan Casiaro; and several nieces and nephews. Donations in memory of Marla may be made to the Benson Mines American Legion Marvin Eno Post 1539, 264 Benson Mines Road, Star Lake NY 13690.
