He graduated from the Saugerites High School in 1955 and worked as a brick layer until he entered the US Army in December of 1960. Paul served 18 months in Germany and was a Medic in the service. Paul was in Germany when the Berlin Wall went up and often said that he never thought he would live to see the wall come down.

In 1977 he moved to Gouverneur to serve as Trooper in Troop B for 12 ½ years until he retired in April of 1990. While serving as a Trooper, he was a Field Training Officer. He made sure the Troopers under him were well prepared to do the job. After his retirement he went into substitute teaching for the Gouverneur Central School system, retiring from that in 1999.
Paul married Barbara Throop on October 19, 1963 at St. Malachy's Church in Sherburne, NY. He was a devoted husband and father. He loved his family very much and the log home they built in 1977.
Paul was a member and Lector for St. James Church for 20 years, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 5810 and Gouverneur for many years. He also served on the Board of Directors for Happiness House in Geneva, NY from 1974 – 1977.
His survivors include his wife, Barbara Roeser; three children, Stephen Roeser, Jacqueline Wheeler and her husband, John, Adrienne Carrick and her husband, Jeffrey; brothers, Frank Roeser, Edward Roeser and his wife, Sue; sisters, Carolyn Brown and her husband, Scott, and Virginia Barr. He is also survived by a grandson, John Leslie Wheeler, III and several nieces and nephews.
The Roeser family would like to thank all their family and friends, the Gouverneur Hospital, Upstate Medical Center, and especially Dr. Reason for the care Paul received. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Lawrence NYSARC, 6 Commerce Lane, Canton NY 13617.
