FINE – Monica R. Shene, age 86, of Fine, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, October 8, 2017.
Calling hours will be held at French Family Funeral Home, Star Lake on Friday, October 13th from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Her funeral Mass will be held at St. Hubert's Catholic Church in Star Lake on Saturday, October 14th at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Shane Lynch officiating. Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery in Fine.
Monica was born on October 3, 1931 in Gouverneur to the late Carl P. and Hannah (Murtaugh) Seaman. She graduated from the Ottawa Canada Immaculate Heart High School and from Canton ATC with a degree in Dietetic in 1951.
Monica married Joseph J. Shene on November 15, 1952 at St. Michael
S Catholic Church in Fine officiated by Father Eugene Kelley. Mrs. Shene began her working career as a Dietitian for the Graduate Hospital in Philadelphia, PA and spent most of her career working for the Clifton-Fine Central School before retiring in 1986.
She was a member of the St. Lawrence County School Food Service Association and was the President of the Association from 1972 – 1974.
Her survivors include her husband, Joseph; three daughters, Valery Terry, Carol Labrum and Pamela Cooper; three sons, Richard, Charles and Andrew Shene; 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and one on the way.
Monica is predeceased by brothers, Harland, Thomas, Donald, William and Frank Seaman; and sisters, Patricia Galassi, Ann Elizabeth and Mary Perrin.
