AA District 42 has received a contribution in Janet's name. According to AA's 7th Tradition we must decline "outside contributions". I contacted the person, explained the situation, and will return the check to her.
I note that their are two other suggested organizations (Disabled American Veterans) and Hospice) to receive memorial contributions. Both are worthy organizations and would be glad to receive them.
Be assured that all us A.A. members who knew Janet will miss her and are grateful to her for her sobriety and for her humanity.

I want to send prayers and condolences to Janet's family. I met Janet when I moved into Lake Region Village in Haines City, Fla. I looked up Janet when I found out that her son was the principal at Harrisville Central School. I was born and raised in Harrisville. We had many nice conversations and she will be missed.

I’m truly sorry for the loss and pain that you are feeling because of losing Janet. To endure the sorrow of losing a family member in death is extremely difficult. We all deal with it differently and God knows this. That’s why throughout the Bible he has made repeated references to the resurrection to help us have hope that we will see our loved one again. The hope he provides is like an anchor. Just like an anchor stabilizes a ship, our hope stabilizes us, keeps us from drowning in overwhelming sadness so we can go from one day to the next. Throughout the Bible, God keeps reminding us that he will return our loved ones back to us so we can enjoy their company once again. (Acts 24:15, John 11:23-25) Other scriptures are Isaiah 26:19 “Your dead will live…And the earth will let those powerless in death come to life.” Isaiah 25:8 “He will swallow up death forever…” and 1 Corinthians 15:26: “And the last enemy, death, is to be brought to nothing.” God guarantees us a resurrection. He promises a time very soon where no family, even yours, will ever have to mourn the death of a loved ever again at Revelation 21:3,4. When he brings the reality of his promised resurrection, he will replace all your tears of pain with tears of joy.
