GOUVERNEUR – Terry Wayne Mackey, age 71, of Gouverneur, passed away at home on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 under the care of his brother and hospice. Calling hours will be held at French Funeral Home in Gouverneur on Saturday, September 30, 2017 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. with his funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Gregory Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in the New St. James Cemetery. Terry was born on September 28, 1945 in Gouverneur to the late Leo and Margaret (Bennett) Mackey. He graduated from the Gouverneur Central School in 1964 and served in the United States Navy from 1964 until his honorable discharge in 1968. He received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. Terry worked as a laborer on various jobs, and retired from the Henrietta School District. He loved to play bass guitar, and go fishing and hunting. His survivors include his brother, Craig Mackey; two sisters, Joanne Gaumes and Sandy Cook; and several nieces and nephews.
