Obituary of Margaret M. Scozzafava

GOUVERNEUR – Margaret M. Scozzafava, age 84, of 182 Rowley Street, Gouverneur, passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Ogdensburg on July 30, 1933, she was the daughter of Matthew and Irene (Amo) Adams. On July 29, 1961, she was united in marriage to John M. Scozzafava at the Drury house in Gouverneur by Ora Wright, JP.
She is survived by her husband; son, John and his wife, Maria, of Milford, Massachusetts, and their children, John Matthew and twin daughters, Victoria and Katherine; daughter, Sara and her husband, Paul Castellani, of Sudbury, Massachusetts, and their children, Matthew Paul and twin daughters, Sophia and Katherine; two sisters, Ann Auwae of Syracuse and Patricia Hippagen of Chevy Chase, Maryland; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents and four sisters, Mary Jane LeFevre, Hilda Dashnaw, Kathleen Alpeter and Ellen Stein.
Margaret was a 1953 graduate of Gouverneur Central Schools and was Dental Assistant to Edward Koch, D.D.S. for several years prior to her marriage. She was active in Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and was a volunteer for the American Red Cross for 30 years. She had many interests, but was especially a devoted wife and mother.
Margaret will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by family and friends.
At her request, there will be no services. Arrangements are with French Funeral Home in Gouverneur. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com. Donations in memory of Margaret may be made to the American Red Cross, Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley, or to a charity of one's choice.
