Obituary of Dorrine O. Woodward

GOUVERNEUR - Dorrine O. Woodward, age 90, of Gouverneur, passed away on January 1, 2013 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital. Her graveside service will be held in the spring in the East Riverside Cemetery, Gouverneur. Arrangements are with French Funeral Home, Gouverneur. Online condolences may be made at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com. Dorrine was born on April 11, 1922 in Gouverneur to the late Ray E. and Arloween (Putman) Woodworth. She married Lawrence Woodward on June 10, 1941. The marriage ended in divorce. Mrs. Woodward had worked as a waitress for Jumbo's Dinette and as a manager at the Kinney's Soda Fountain. She retired from Canton ATC where she had worked as a data processor. Dorrine was a lifelong resident of Gouverneur. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, and the Gouverneur Senior Citizen's Group. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, crocheting, and working on puzzles. Her survivors include four daughters, Anne M. Bishop of Gouverneur, Linda J. and Joe Sleeman of Gouverneur and Florida, Nancy L. and Gerald Barker of Edwards, Julie J. and Peter Morse of Little River, SC; ten grandchildren; several great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and her nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by her son, Lawrence R. Woodward; brother, Ray E. Woodworth, Jr.; sister, Marjorie Coates; and her longtime companion, Edward Brokenshire.
