Obituary of Patricia D. Bigarel

PHILADELPHIA- Patricia D. "Patty" (Holt) Bigarel, age 73, of Philadelphia, NY, but formerly of Gouverneur, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2017 at Samaritan Keep Home in Watertown. Patty was born on March 15, 1944 in Gouverneur to Richard A. and Cecile (LaPierre) Holt. She graduated from Gouverneur High School and then went on to Watertown Beauty School. A marriage to Earl Bigarel ended in divorce. Patty had worked as a self-employed hairdresser. She enjoyed crocheting, doing crafts, playing bingo and doing her scratch offs. She loved her grandchildren and was very proud that so far one was in college and two were serving their country in the United States Navy and Air Force. Surviving is her mother, Cecile Holt of Gouverneur; a son, Cory and his companion Gloria Hunter of Theresa; a daughter, Shannon Bigarel of Felts Mills; a brother, Richard and his wife Roseanne Holt of Dekalb; a sister, Donna and her husband Leonard Gaumes of Gouverneur; four grandchildren, one great grandchild and another one of the way and several nieces and nephews. Patty is predeceased by her father, Richard A. Holt. There will be calling hours for Patty on Thursday, March 30, 2017 from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at French Funeral Home, Gouverneur with her funeral service immediately following at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Fr. Shane Lynch officiating. Burial will follow at East Riverside Cemetery in Gouverneur. Donations may be made in Patricia's memory to a charity of one's choice.
