Obituary of Fredrick E. Kyer

FINE, NY– Fredrick E. Kyer, age 86, of Fine, NY, passed away on July 14, 2016 in the Absolut Care Center in Endicott, NY. Calling hours will be held at French Funeral Home, Edwards on Thursday, July 21, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. His funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. starting with a Masonic Lodge Service. Burial will be in the Woodland Cemetery in Fine. Fred was born on September 24, 1929 in Gouverneur to the late George and Nellie (Fields) Kyer. He served in the United States Army from 1947 until his honorable discharge in 1949. He married Betty Lour Trimm on March 25, 1950. Betty passed away on April 2, 1986. Fred married Rosemary (Farrah) Hamilton on May 20, 1990. Mr. Kyer worked for the Newton Falls Paper Mill for 40 years, retiring as a coater operator. Fred loved his family and embraced Rosemary's family as his own as well. He would help anybody who needed it and was a gifted woodworker. He had helped clean up the Clifton-Fine Golf Course after the microburst damage and donated his time to make the Child Identification Program a success. Fred also loved to play golf and play his harmonica. Fred loved a good laugh and had a tremendous sense of humor. Fred is survived by his wife, Rosemary Kyer of DeKalb Junction; his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Lisa Kyer of Ossining, NY; daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Michael Pitts of Albany, NY; son-in-law, Garnold Hance; and step-children, Cathy and Rick Burt and Christine and Jim Trathen. He is also survived by a brother, Walter Kyer and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, George and Nellie Kyer; a daughter, Cathy Hance; a step-son, Jeffrey Hamilton; brothers, Alvey, William, Grant, and Murray Kyer; and his sisters, Grace Cummings, Nellie Stowell, and Dorothy Brown.
