Obituary of Martha A. Allen

EDWARDS – Martha A. Allen, age 78, passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at her home under the loving care of her family and Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley. Calling hours will be held at French Funeral Home, Edwards on Saturday, July 23, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. immediately followed by her funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Edwards at a later date. Martha was born in Edwards on April 28, 1938 to the late Frank and Vesta (Rice) Allen. She attended school in Edwards. On July 31, 1970 she married Duane Waugh. The marriage ended in divorce. Martha has lived in Edwards with her companion, Art Tibbits for over 30 years. Martha was a member of the Edwards United Methodist Church, the Edwards Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, Order of the Eastern Stars and she enjoyed reading and working on crossword puzzles. Her survivors include her companion, Arthur Tibbits; her son and his wife, James and Jacqueline Allen of Pierpont; two brothers, James Allen of Webster, Vernon Allen and his wife, Nancy, of Las Vegas, NV; and five sisters, Nancy and David Bowhall of Philadelphia, Linda and Archie Whitton of Richville, Karen and James Whitton of Richville, Sally Matthews of Talcville, and Ellen and Francis Thornton of Philadelphia. Martha is also survived by 2 grandchildren, Sarah and Zachary Allen. Martha is predeceased by her parents, Frank and Vesta Allen, and a sister, Mabel Davison.
