Obituary of Donald "Donny" R. Pomerville

STAR LAKE – Donald "Donny" R. Pomerville, age 59, of Star Lake, passed away on June 27, 2016 at the Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown. Calling hours will be held at French Family Funeral Home in Star Lake on Friday, July 1, 2016, from 1 – 3 and 6 – 8 p.m. His funeral service will be on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Hubert's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Hubert's Cemetery followed by a luncheon in the fellowship hall of St. Hubert's Church Donny was born on November 9, 1956 in Star Lake to Shirley (Cote) Pomerville, now Shirley Newtown, and the late Donald C. Pomerville. He graduated from Clifton-Fine Central School in 1974, received a certification in refrigeration and air conditioning from Canton ATC in 1976 and received his Associates degree in Applied Science with honors from SUNY Canton in 2002. Donny married Rosie LaTray on October 4, 1996. He had worked for the Newton Falls Paper Mill for 27 years before it closed. He then worked for A.C.C.O. in Ogdensburg and had been employed by Sunmount in Tupper Lake since 2007. Donny was a member of the N.R.A., was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed riding motorcycles, four-wheeling, wood working, and golfing. He was an animal lover and would often rescue animals that were injured or orphaned. His survivors include his wife, Rosie; his mother and her husband, Shirley and Gordon Newtown; step-mother, Patricia Pomerville; his brother Timothy and Beth Pomerville; his sister, Julie and Rick Werthman; daughter Tanya and Shawn Woods; son, Nicholas Kerr; step-sister Kim and Chuck Cooper; step-brother, Danny and Penny Drake; step-sister-in-law, Cindy Drake; step-daughters, Tonya and Gary Lutz and Jamie and Phil Janack; 3 grandchildren, Elise, Jayden and Jaxson Woods; 4 step-grandchildren, Logan Lutz and Destinii, Tori and Tyler Finley; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Donny is predeceased by his father, Donald C.
