MACOMB- Genevieve "Jennie" M. Young, age 81, of Macomb, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2016 under the loving care of her nephew and his wife, James and Johnnie LaRue and St. Lawrence Valley Hospice.

Genevieve was born on August 2, 1934 in Ogdensburg, NY to the late William D. and Genevieve (Kio) Papineau. She went to school in Hailesboro until eighth grade and then graduated from Gouverneur High School in 1952 and went onto Watertown School of Commerce for one year.

She married Delbert W. Young in Gouverneur with Rev. Wood officiating. Delbert passed away on July 23, 2009. Jennie helped her husband on the family farm for many years, babysat all three of her grandchildren and many other children. She enjoyed being with her family, bowling with friends, crocheting, making crafts, painting, fishing and being on Black Lake.

Surviving are a son and his wife, David and Penny Young; a sister, Anita Hayes; three grandchildren, Dylan, Staci and Jarred Young; a great grandson, Gavin Arnold; and several nieces and nephews.

Jennie is predeceased by her husband, her parents; two brothers, William and Richard Papineau; three sisters, Lucille Richardson, Elizabeth Shattuck and Rita Absalon.

There will be a graveside service for Jennie on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Riverside Cemetery in Gouverneur with her nephew, James LaRue officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to French Funeral Home, Gouverneur. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com.
