Obituary of Michael Paul Cooper

BENSON MINES - Michael Paul Cooper, 61, of Benson Mines, NY, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his family home, surrounded by his 3 sisters. Mike was born the first of 5 children to Lawrence and Rosanne (Trombley) Cooper, on March 27, 1954 in Star Lake, NY. Mike lived most of his adult life in Colorado. He was a devoted "Daddy", a skilled Craftsman, self-taught artist, and enjoyed woodworking. Also known as "Coop" and "Mountain Man Mike", he loved being in the mountains, camping, hunting, fishing and trapping. He loved to hang out with his friends and make sure people were happy. In the last several years, he dedicated his life to caring for his father. Mike is survived by: his son, Brendon Pomerville; his daughters, Hollie (Derek) Lehmukuhl and Michal Cooper; his father Lawrence Cooper; his brother, Keith (Pam) Cooper; his sisters, Brenda (John) Hamling, Judy Cooper, and Susan (Pete) Smith; and many nephews and nieces. Mike is predeceased by his mother, Rosanne (Trombley) Cooper, and his nephew, Kyle Cooper. There will be a "Celebration of Life for Coop" on Saturday, February 27, 2016 from 3-6pm at the American Legion in Star Lake, NY.
