GOUVERNEUR – Margaret L. Goodison, age 88, of Gouverneur, passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2016 at the River Ledge Nursing Home in Ogdensburg.
There will be a graveside service for Margaret on Friday, February 19, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Richville. Arrangements are with French Funeral Home, Gouverneur.
Margaret was born on March 20, 1927 to the late Herbert and Anna (Macaulay) LaForty. She graduated from Gouverneur High School in 1945. She married John D. Goodison Sr. on June 14, 1946 at the Gouverneur United Methodist Church. John passed away in September of 1990. Margaret was a homemaker and she enjoyed reading.
She is survived by a son, John D. Goodison Jr. of Evans Mills; a daughter, Noreen J. and Michael Boclair of Gouverneur; a brother, Arnold LaForty of Hoosick Falls, NY; 6 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Margaret is predeceased by a daughter, Jane A. Pipkin; two brothers, Richard and William LaForty; a sister, Hazel Clancy; and a granddaughter, Patti Maher.
