Obituary of Belva J. Riley

STAR LAKE – Belva J. Riley, age 71, of Star Lake, passed away at home on January 26, 2016.
Calling hours will be held at French Family Funeral Home, Star Lake, on Saturday, January 30, 2016 from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. with her funeral service following at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Oswegatchie Cemetery.
Belva was born on December 10, 1944 in Star Lake to the late Bernist Walter and Beulah (Sawyer) Lashua. She graduated from the Clifton-Fine Central School in 1964 and married Lawrence David Riley on August 2, 1969. Mr. Riley passed away on March 26, 1999.
Belva loved animals, especially her cats. She was a loving and caring person who taught others about embracing cultural differences.
She is survived by her sons, Scott Riley and his wife, Meghan; Lamont James and his fiancée, Sharon Kenner; 4 grandchildren, Moiet, Jordan, Justice, and Lamont James II; and four brothers, Ronald and Betty, LeRoy and Marian, Harl, and Ricky and Anne Marie Goodson; two sister-in-laws, Beth and Theresa Lashua; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Belva is predeceased by two brothers, Wendell and Elwyn Lashua, Sr. and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Lashua.
