GOUVERNEUR - Barbara L. Paquette, age 70, of Gouverneur, passed away on Monday, November 12, 2012 at home under the care of her loving family and Hospice.

Barbara was born on May 5, 1942 in Hailesboro to the late Irvin W. and Gertrude M. Merritt. She married Ronald W. Paquette on May 14, 1960 at the Gouverneur United Methodist Church with Rev. Stanley Brown officiating.

Mrs. Paquette was a homemaker who had also waitressed at Our Place Restaurant in Antwerp and worked at the Fort Drum Commissary for three years. Barbara also had worked as the on site manager for the Antwerp Senior Housing for six years.

She enjoyed crafts, gardening, canning, and scrapbooking. She loved being the assistant coach for T-ball in Antwerp and was an honorary member of the Antwerp Fireman's Auxillary.

Her survivors include her husband, Ronald; four sons, Jeffrey and his pet, Bear, Steven and his pet Samantha, Darren and his significant other, Christine Bombard-Perry, Christopher and his significant other, Stacy Hooper; a daughter, Sherri Marshall and her significant other, Frank Dunbar; two brothers, Lyal and Larry Merritt; two sisters, Patricia Wilmot and Linda Rose; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She is predeceased by a son, Kevin Paquette; two brothers, Wesley and Irvin Merritt; and two sisters, Ruth Whitney and Sheron Merritt.
