Obituary of Michael "Kinger" J. King

STAR LAKE – Michael "Kinger" J. King, age 65, of Star Lake, passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2015 at the Clifton-Fine Hospital. Calling hours will be at French Family Funeral Home, Star Lake, on Wednesday, December 30 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. immediately followed by his memorial service at 3:00 p.m. Following the memorial service there will be a gathering at Twin Lakes in Star Lake. Mike's family has requested that everyone dress casually and hunting attire is perfectly fine. Mike was born on July 27, 1950 in Gouverneur to the late Francis and Muriel (Doran) King. He graduated from the Clifton-Fine Central School in 1969 and from Delhi College where he studied masonry. Mike married Lynn Beckman on June 3, 1989 on The Sister Islands on Cranberry Lake. The couple has been together for 33 years. Mike worked as a mason for several construction companies and operated King Construction for many years. Mike was also a bus driver and had worked maintenance for the Houghton College campus in Star Lake and plowed and shoveled snow for many in the Star Lake area. Kinger was a member of the Sons of the American Legion in Star Lake and the Little River Fish and Game Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and collecting. A real artisan, Mike was very talented in leather working, beading, and creating one of-a-kind woodworks. His survivors include his wife, Lynn King; daughter, Renada Duchano; sister, Susie King; 2 grandchildren, Raine and Reece Berg; a niece and her husband, Chere and Doug Phelps; and two great-nephews, Zachary and Skyler Phelps.
