GOUVERNEUR – Charles H. Sovie, age 82, of Gouverneur, passed away on August 14, 2015 at the Gouverneur Hospital.

Charles was born on March 25, 1933 in Rome. He served in the United States Army 82nd Airborne unit from 1950 until his honorable discharge in 1953. He worked for the Newton Falls Paper Mill for many years, retiring as the switch board operator. In his free time to loved to fish.
His survivors include three sons and their significant others, Mark and Mona of Fowler, Charles and Charmaine of Fine, Scott and Janet of Fine; a brother, John Sovie; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Lindsey. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren.
He is predeceased by a son, Christopher "Cricket" and his ex-wife, Pauline Clark.
