Obituary of Wayne D. Hogle

GOUVERNEUR – Wayne D. Hogle, age 73, of Gouverneur, passed away on July 27, 2015 at the Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg.
Calling hours will be at French Funeral Home, Gouverneur on Friday from 6 – 9 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. His funeral will immediately follow at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Howard Maxson officiating. Burial will be in the East Riverside Cemetery.
Wayne was born in Plattsburgh on May 27, 1942, a son of the late George Matthew and Hilda Mae (Armstrong) Hogle. Wayne was taken home to a small farm in Mooers, NY, where he grew up with six brothers and sisters. He graduated from Mooers Central School, class of 1959, and from Canton ATC, Class of 1961.
Upon graduation, Wayne was employed by Kinney Drug Stores in Gouverneur to manage the soda fountain and later promoted to supervisor of all soda fountains in the drug store chain until finding employment at his college alma mater in 1966.
He married Carol J. Mullins of Gouverneur on September 14, 1963 with Rev. Stanley Brown officiating at the Methodist Church. Carol passed away October 8, 2003.
They built a home at 223 River Road, and raised their family. In 1972 Wayne secured employment with St. Lawrence University and continued until his retirement in 1995. Wayne worked in the Food Service industry for 34 years, and was a member of several Food Service professional organizations. He also worked as the office coordinator of H&R Block in Gouverneur for 15 years before his retirement in 2012.
Wayne enjoyed working outside as well, so he acquired part-time work with the Gouverneur Fair Association in 1962, eventually being promoted to Grounds and Buildings Superintendant, and continued in that roll for 45 years. He continued to volunteer his spare time on beautification projects at the Fair. Wayne became a director on the Fair Board in 1984, and still held that appointment.
Wayne is survived by two sons, Murl W. Hogle and his companion, Carrie O'Dell, Glen M. and Patti Mills Hogle; a daughter, Tina M. Hogle; his mother-in-law, Martina Facey; grandchildren, Matthew and Ashley Brossoit Hogle, Greg Zeller and companion, December, Alan and wife Mackenzie Mullikin Hogle, Jillian M. Hogle, Nolan Hogle, Zac and Andrew "AJ" Dale and several great grandchildren.
His surviving siblings are sisters, Cheryl M. Hogle and companion, Beverly Hodge, Melody Bourgeois and husband, Robert, Laurie Glode; brother, Rick Hogle and wife, Alana; sister-in-law, Georgianna Hogle; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Wayne is also survived by Carols' half siblings.
Wayne was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Carol; a brother, G. Wesley Hogle and a sister, Wendy I. Hogle.
