GOUVERNEUR – Keith A. Tyler, age 89, of Gouverneur, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at the River Ledge Nursing Home in Ogdensburg.
Calling hours will be held at French Funeral Home, Gouverneur on Saturday, July 18, 2015 from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. His funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery, Gouverneur.
Keith was born on July 13, 1926 in Gouverneur to the late Clifford A. and Ella M. (Dane) Tyler. He graduated from the Gouverneur Central School in 1944.
He married Ilene M. Mayhew on September 3, 1957 at the Massena Methodist Parsonage with Rev. William Masters officiating. She passed away on May 8, 2002. Keith married his second wife, Emma (Fenton) Fifield on June 26, 2010.
Keith owned and operated the Butternut Ridge Dairy Farm in North Gouverneur for many years. He was a member and former trustee of the North Gouverneur Methodist Church, member of the National Breeders Association, Maple Syrup Association, St. Lawrence County Maple Producers Association, a former director of the Farm Bureau and enjoyed blue grass music and collecting antique Ford tractors.
He is survived by his wife, Emma and her family, a son, Lawrence K. Tyler of DeKalb, and a grandson, Christopher.
He is predeceased by his parents, his first wife, Ilene, a brother, Eldon Tyler, and a grandson.
