Obituary of Grant W. Kerr

STAR LAKE – Grant W. Kerr, age 96, of Star Lake, passed away on July 1, 2015 at the Clifton-Fine Hospital. Calling hours will be at French Family Funeral Home, 4159 St. Hwy. 3, Star Lake, on Sunday, July 5, 2015 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. His funeral service will be on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Deacon Philip Giardino officiating. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com. Grant was born on February 6, 1919 at Briggs Switch, Fine, NY to the late John W. and Elsie (Bell) Kerr. He served in the U.S. Army as a medic during WWII. He married Junedine A. Bullock on June 3, 1950. June passed away on December 24, 2009. Grant had worked at the Kerr Brothers Garage as a mechanic before purchasing the Kerr Insurance Company in 1963. He operated the Insurance Company until his retirement in 2005 at the age of 86. Mr. Kerr was a member of the American Legion, the Masonic Lodge and the Grange. He was a civil war buff and enjoyed fishing and tinkering around the house. His survivors include two daughters, Judy and Donald Sullivan, Linda Kerr; two sons, Bruce Kerr and John Kerr; 8 grandchildren, Patrick Sweetman, Susan Keough, Zachary Sullivan, Brittany Sullivan, Jordyn Sullivan, Taylor Sullivan, Matthew Kerr and Jonathan Kerr; and 8 great-grandchildren. Grant is predeceased by his six siblings, Ralph, J. Hartwell, and William Kerr, Ida Funnell, Belle Sykes, and Maybell Kerr.
