RUSSELL- Larry G. Wisner, age 71, of Russell, NY, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2015 at his home under the loving care of his family and St. Lawrence Valley Hospice.
There will be calling hours for Larry on Monday, March 16th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at French Funeral Home, Edwards. His funeral service will be on Tuesday, March 17th at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Lay Speaker Douglas Beachard officiating. Burial will be at Sunnyside Cemetery in Croghan. Larry was born on February 27, 1944 in Carthage, NY to the late Frank and Dorothy H. (Hayes) Wisner. He attended Carthage Central School and then enlisted in the United States Army where he served from 1963 until his honorable discharge in 1966. He married Jean VanAllen on June 13, 1980 in Philadelphia, NY.
Larry had worked for NY Air Brake in Watertown for 21 years; Stature Electric in Watertown; as maintenance for the Town of Russell for 7 years; then most recently for McBriers United Helpers in Hermon for the last 3 years. When he was between jobs he would work on his own doing remodeling jobs. He was a very active person. He loved puttering in his garage, fishing, 4-wheeling, playing shuffle board, pool, quick draw and his favorite, horse shoes. He also loved cutting wood and just being outdoors.
Surviving is his wife, Jean; five sons, Jimmy Bevens, Gregory Wisner, Scott Wisner, Gordon Carr Wisner and Matt Carr Wisner; five daughters, Candace Quellette, Lisa Cook, Racheal Wisner, Kimberly Wisner and Debra Wisner; a brother, Ronald Wisner; five sisters, Nancy Jones, Mary Saber, Janice Backman, Clara Tyner and Sally O'Connor; 17 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Larry is predeceased by his parents and a son, Todd Wisner.
Donations may be made in Larry's name to a trust fund that will be set up for his grandson, Sky Joy or to Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley or the American Cancer Society. Donations may also be sent directly to his wife, Jean.
