Obituary of Barbara Buddenhagen

HAILESBORO- Barbara G. Buddenhagen, age 74, of Hailesboro, passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at Maplewood Nursing Home in Canton. Barbara was born on September 2, 1940 in Narrowsburg, NY to the late Arnold and Blanche (Slater) Glaab. She graduated from Narrowsburg Central School in 1958. Barbara married Robert Buddenhagen on May 16, 1959 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Narrowsburg with Rev. Waxbaum Jr. officiating. The couple had lived in Honesdale, PA, Canton, NY, and Ogdensburg, NY until moving to Gouverneur in 1976 then finally moving to Hailesboro in 1988. Mrs. Buddenhagen was the secretary for the Gouverneur First United Methodist Church for 18 years. She was a member of the Gouverneur United Methodist Church were she served on the board. She was a former Hospice Volunteer and was on the board of the American Heart Association. She also was a former member of the E.J. Noble Ladies Auxillary. She enjoyed camping, hunting and reading. Barbara is survived by two sons and their wives, Mark and Dawn Buddenhagen of Travelers Rest, SC and Michael and Sandi Buddenhagen of Ottawa, Kansas; a daughter and her husband, Tamara and Bradley McAdam of Gouverneur; a brother, Glenn Glaab and his companion, Helen Fraser of Monticello, NY; six grandchildren, two great-grandsons, three great-granddaughters, and several nieces and nephews. Barbara is predeceased by a sister-in-law, Marjorie Glaab. There will be no calling hours. There will be a memorial service at a later date at the Gouverneur United Methodist Church. Donations may be made in Barbara's memory to the American Heart Association, Joslen Diabetes Center or the United Methodist Church of Gouverneur.
