Obituary of Iolanda Wade

GOUVERNEUR – Iolanda Wade, age 92, of Gouverneur, passed away on February 13, 2015 at the Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown. Iolanda was born on September 28, 1922 in Brooklyn, the daughter of the late Frank and Margharita (Grazioso) Vezzi. She grew up in Brooklyn and graduated from high school in 1940. She married Donald R. Wade on April 25, 1941. The couple lived on Long Island. Donald died on September 28, 1980 and Iolanda moved to Gouverneur in 1984. While living in Gouverneur, she was a volunteer and Sunday school teacher for the Richville Christian Academy. Mrs. Wade had enjoyed her indoor plants and cooking, as well as sewing and knitting when she was able. Among her survivors are her three daughters and two sons-in-law; Mertres and Jerry Freese – Macomb, Barbara and Dennis Koerick – Antwerp, and Patricia Hearon – Long Island. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 11 great-great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband, Donald, her brother, Sonny Vezzi, and her five sisters; Marie Vergine, Irene Madan, Helen Vanatta, Colotilda Sagona, and Virginia Florio.
