GOUVERNEUR – Lennis D. Campbell, of Gouverneur passed away on January 1, 2015 at the Gouverneur Hospital.

Len was born on May 16, 1931 in Barkersville, IN to the late Oscar B. and Lena E. (Wayman) Campbell. He graduated from the Morgantown High School in 1949.
Len married Linda L. Helvie on November 1, 1974. The couple have lived in Gouverneur for their entire marriage. Len retired as the owner and operator of the Robert C. Dier Insurance Agency in 1999, having come to Gouverneur to work for them in 1970. He started in the insurance business in 1954 working for the Indiana Lumberman Company. From 1959 until 1963 he was the head of the property damage department in Albany and was a field representative for Berkshire Mutual Insurance Company from 1963 until moving to Gouverneur in 1970.
Len enjoyed playing golf and was a Life Member of the Gouverneur Elks Lodge. Above all, he loved time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
His survivors include his wife, Linda; three sons, Jeffrey and Dorinda Campbell and Gary and Mona Campbell of Gouverneur, Cory Campbell of Buda, TX; two daughters, Kimberly and Brennan Shampine of Antwerp, Caryann Adams of Scotia, NY; and a brother, Wendell Campbell of Franklin, IN. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Len is predeceased by his four sisters, Edith Campbell, Avis Krenz, Wilma Smith and Bonita Pearcy and his mother and father, Oscar B. and Lena E. (Wayman) Campbell.
