Obituary of Sandra A. Gotham

EDWARDS- Sandra "Sandy" Ann Gotham, age 68, of Edwards passed away suddenly on Friday, October 17, 2014 at her home. Calling hours for Sandy, will be on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at French Funeral Home, Edwards. Her funeral service will be on Thursday, October 23rd at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Beth Benham officiating. Burial will follow at Hermon Cemetery. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com. Sandy was born on May 1, 1946 in New York City to Betty Reynolds. She attended school in Hermon and then graduated from Edwards Central School in 1975. She owned and operated Sandy's Beauty Shop in Edwards from 1975 until current. Sandy married Winston "Sonny" C. Gotham on November 10, 1962 in Edwards and together they owned and operated Spring Haven Farm, raising registered Black Angus for 43 years. The couple showed their cattle at the Gouverneur and State Fairs for many years. Sonny passed away on January 10, 2014. She was a member of the Magistrates, where she had been a Judge for the Town of Edwards since 2005. She was also a member of the Gouverneur St. Lawrence County Fair Board and the Edwards Senior Citizen Council Board. She and Sonny helped raise foster children together. She loved being on Trout Lake, having coffee and gossip with the girls, dressing up on Halloween, quilting and she always looked forward to Colorado weekend. Sandy loved being surrounded by friends and family and recently had the girls' 22nd annual pajama party at Trout Lake. Sandy is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia "Cindy" and Randy VanBrocklin of Edwards; a grandson, Thorne VanBrocklin and a brother, William Reddy of Ohio. She is predeceased by her husband, Sonny and her mother, Betty Gibbs, who both passed away this past year.
