Obituary of Ora Bell Smith

STAR LAKE – Ora Bell Smith, age 86, of Star Lake, passed away on October 10, 2014 at her home. There will be a graveside service in the Hailesboro Cemetery on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Beth Benham officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to French Family Funeral Home of Star Lake. Ora was born on April 2, 1928 in Fullerville to the late Wilbur and Theresa (Dashner) McIntosh. She married Charles "Chuck" Edward Smith who passed away in 1984. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker who had also worked for the Clifton-Fine Hospital kitchen staff. She enjoyed camping, knitting, sewing, and cooking. Her survivors include her son and his wife, Gary and Madeline Smith of Middletown, CT; her adopted daughter and her husband, Barbara and Robert Amber of Portland, CT; her brother and his wife, Donald and Kay McIntosh of Gouverneur; 3 grandchildren, Jonathon Zachary Smith, Heather Ashley Smith-Hitchman, Brian Paul, and many nieces and nephews. Ora is predeceased by her parents, her husband, and 8 brothers and sisters. Donations in memory of Ora may be made to the Children's Home of Jefferson County, 253 State Street, Watertown NY 13601.
