Obituary of Bethany E. Reynolds

GOUVERNEUR- Bethany E. Reynolds, age 81, of Gouverneur, passed away on Friday, August 22, 2014 at Gouverneur Hospital Inc. Calling hours for Bethany, will be on Thursday, August 28, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at French Funeral Home, Gouverneur. Her funeral service will be on Friday, August 29th at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Tom Nichols officiating. Burial will follow at Hailesboro Cemetery. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com. Bethany was born on August 12, 1933 in Hammond, NY to the late Herbert R. and Alice (Hicks) Scott. She attended Hammond Central School. Bethany married Charles H. Reynolds on August 10, 1968 at the Gouverneur Methodist Church. Bethany worked at the Gouverneur Paper Mill as a roll wrapper for 48 years. She volunteered for many years at the DADs Post 80 at the VFW. She enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, playing cards, camping and dancing. She is survived by her husband Charles of Gouverneur; three daughters and their spouses, Liane and Robert Beane of Gouverneur, Charlene and Dennis Wells of Rockmart, GA and Robin and Michael Sweeney of Gouverneur; three sons, Thomas Reynolds of Fulton, Arthur McKinney of Gouverneur and Lonny and Carol Scott of Gouverneur; a sister, Margaret Hewey of Canton and eight grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her parents; a sister, Helen Hull; and an infant grandson. Donations may be made in Bethany's memory to the Gouverneur Volunteer Fire Department.
