Obituary of David E. Gladle

GOUVERNEUR- David E. Gladle, age 87, formerly of Gouverneur, passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Maplewood Nursing Home in Canton. There will be a graveside service for David on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Lake Cemetery in Macomb with Pastor David Sheppard officiating. David was born on July 10, 1927 in Macomb, NY to the late William Frank and Mary Lucinda (Bogart) Gladle. He attended rural school in Macomb and then attended Gouverneur High School. David worked as a dairy farmer in Hammond and then worked for the Town of Macomb Highway Department for 11 years. He also was an independent Milk Truck driver for 5 years and then worked at Dick Sullivan's saw mill for 5 years, retiring in 1992 as the Superintendent of Lumber. David enjoyed playing softball and watching old B-Western Movies and has met a few of the movie stars. He was a former member of the DADS of the American Legion. Surviving is two brothers and their wives, Harry L. and Janet Gladle of Jasper, AL and Robert L. and Renee Gladle of Hammond; a sister, Mildred V. Hamilton of Heuvelton; a best friend who was like a brother, William Cooper; and several nieces and nephews. David is predeceased by a brother, Horace W. Gladle and a sister, Ida I Gladle. Donations may be made in David's memory to the Pleasant Lake Cemetery Association or to Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley.
